EMA’s 2025 kicked off with remarkable warmth and enthusiasm as more than 50 families braved snowy weather conditions to attend POOMUKHAM – Back to Roots on February 15th. Griffith Hall transformed into a traditional Kerala tharavaadu’s poomukham (front porch), creating a nostalgic setting where members reconnected with their cultural roots while strengthening community bonds. The event marked a vibrant beginning to EMA’s year of activities, filling everyone with joy and anticipation for upcoming initiatives.
Grasping the Significance
POOMUKHAM exemplified EMA’s commitment to preserving Kerala’s rich cultural heritage while fostering meaningful connections among members. The evening featured soul-stirring karaoke sessions led by Paattukoottam Music Club, where members shared their musical talents through Malayalam classics and popular hits. Traditional and modern games brought generations together in friendly competition, creating shared memories and laughter. Beyond entertainment, the event demonstrated our community’s compassion as Yuva Team catered delicious Kerala cuisine with proceeds supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, blending cultural celebration with meaningful social impact.
